Stock pipe modify

I own a 2012 FLHX Streetglide. Basically I would like a bad ass exhaust sound to my bike. Still have the stock pipes on it. I would love to just go out and buy a new set of pipes but this is a pricy project. Is there a way to get a louder sound out of the stock pipes. Can the baffle be removed? Can the muffler pipe under the hard bag be separated from the rest of the pipe system? I'm just an average do it yourselfer but if this is something that's doable by an average jo then I would give it a try.

I have been looking at the various pipe manufactures and noticed they have slip-ons? Not totally sure what this is?

Before this bike I owned a 1994 FXR that had vance and hine straight pipes. It was pretty loud. I had a local guy put baffles in the pipe to quiet them down a little. This is kind of what I would like to do but the opposite if possible. Louden up my streetglide pipes and maybe have the option of putting the baffles back in?

Is it possible? Just as expensive as buying a new set of pipes? I'm thinking new pipes would run about 1200 to 1500 complete?

Any help would be appreciated. Thanks all

Sort answer, yes.

Long answer, yes but you may not be pleased with the sound and you're going to need the right tools for the job. I drilled out the end cap o ly on my mufflers to make then a tad louder. A more popular option is to cut the entire baffle core free from the outer shell and pull it out. I've heard complaints of this sounding hollow or tinny though.

The header can also be gutted. The cat can be cut out or drilled out with cutting being the desired method but requires a welder.

If you are handy then give it a try. If not, I'd check ebay and Craigslist. It's hit and miss and depends on your frequency of checking and pickyness but you may find what you want and save a good chunk over brand new.

SlipOns are just muffler replacements. There are many many choices out there.

Rinehart and CFR are the SlipOns I tend to like. Both have a great sound with the Rinehart being a bit louder and the CFR's being much deeper tone. You can usually pick up a set for $500-$600 possibly a bit less.

In most cases you don't need to tune for just SlipOns.

I picked up some SE Street Cannons for under $300 and sold them for almost that much when I found a set of V&H Twin Slash for under $250.....deals can be found if you're not in a hurry and don't mind minor blemishes.....

Yea. That's what I am afraid of. The sound I am getting from the stock pipes is pretty good just would like to bring it up a few decibels. Thanks for the info

I also picked up a set of Screaming Eagle Street Cannons on EBay. I paid about $240 shipped. They were in like new condition and evidently only had a few hundred miles on them. They really opened up nicely after about five thousand miles. Had I not found the Street Cannons at a good price I would have pulled the trigger on Vance and Hines Twin Slash Rounds same as Aviator. IMO both nice sounding pipes without being overpowering. There are YouTube videos that give a fair representation of either of the muffler choices.

Going to have a set of twin slash rounds for sale here pretty quick. Didn't take long to get rid of the power duals head pipe and it wasn't advertised. Guess it helps to have lots of like minded friends.

And you're moving on to...

More noise? More torque?? Less heat???

As you know it's louder lol and the torque band has changed. It is cooler after riding across the salt flats the last 2 days you can tell a little difference but not much from the power duals I took off.
