Low Budget Makover.

This is a very interesting thread, I'm waiting to see the end results to!

My thoughts exactly.... Plasti dip is so much less permanent, thats what I would have used, except for the exhaust obviously.

I'm curious why you chose paint instead of plasti dip?

Was thinking the same thing. The bike looks badass. But paint usually chips off chrome pretty easily unless sanded REAL well 80grt then again with 180grt then acid etch primed before applying paint. But at the cost of these paints you could easily touch up the paint.
I like the look. Nice job.

Plastidip is a great product.. i have used it on my vehicles. He chose this route for ease of touchup when needed and when you can rattle can with talent, you can't tell the difference. He is prepping surfaces and using matt black with several coats of matt clear over it and it's holding up VERY well

And yes.. the heatshields and slipons are done with high temp black... not sure of the brand.... I have always used BBQ black and held up well on exhausts and other high temp applications on vehicles

Interesting! I always look at rattle can paint jobs as cheap and inferior but its interesting that someone who knows what they are doing can make it look nice and hold up.

Don't know what I'm doin at all, Lmao. But taking my time and it's turning out really nice!!

Ok, finally had some time to work on the bike a little more......uploadfromtaptalk1429898486556.jpguploadfromtaptalk1429898510274.jpguploadfromtaptalk1429898529409.jpg
Did the handlebars, grips, ignition switch, and saddlebags latches. Also picked up all the gaskets so I can remove and paint all the chrome on the engine. Them damn gaskets cost the most so far. Still under $150.

To answer the question about why I decided to use paint instead of plastidip.... I just didn't like the plastidip. And the flat black paint is very easy to touch up if needed. And I am prepping all the chrome surfaces simply with a scotchbrite pad.

Low Budget Makover.

Norticed in one of the pictures you pulled the fork reflectors guessing to black them (forks) out.
Did you also pull the saddlebag reflectors for the blacked out look, vivid black under them.
Also guessing you don't live in the same state as Spaz
Didn't you say that whips are illegal in your state Spaz or was it another state you were talking about ?

Flatlander,

Joker literally lives 2 houses from me...and sporting our colors as you can see.. lol! we hang all the time. Whips are illegal in CA for sure IF you leave them as is. If you ziptie ( preventing the quick release ) technically its not, but they can still harass us for them.

As for NV law, it's clear as mud on the whips.... we are digging into it to see what we come up with, but so far, if you don't have the weighted monkeyball... we might get away with it... or hang a key off the tail and call it a keychain.. lol!!!

Joker looking better all the time buddy I see whips around here all the time and nobody bothers with them.

Yes spazz is correct on the whips in California if they are attached ( somewhat permanent) technically they are legal but you will get pulled over and harassed. Now on the other hand if they are not attached and can be quick released they will impound your bike and charge you with a bunch of crap. And possibly a felony then you get to fight it in court which is what they did to one of my club brothers.

Oh yeah, did the math, by the time I'm done with the whole bike I'll still be under $150. Till I do the custom paint job. Lmao

They look so ooooh much better in person... I could not believe how great they came out.... I think i will get (let) him to do mine...lol

Awesome job Joker!
