Hello

I've been reading up on the different posts here and elsewhere on the bars. I have a pretty good understanding of the different sizes and pullbacks.

I am 5'7". I take my bike on some pretty long trips. This next year I have a ride to Denver and a ride to Phoenix planned, both will be rather long rides from Iowa.

I put some decent miles on it this year, and started noticing that I'd get the cramps in-between the shoulder blades, and the pain in the wrists due to the angle of the stock bars.

Now, 10" and 12" will solve the problems without any question. But I have a problem- I'm really particular about how the bike looks. I don't like the ideas of the mirrors sticking out above the fairing. I just think it messes up the flow of the bike. Especially looking at it from the front. Like rabbit ears. Granted, I wouldn't be looking at it from the front much, but it still would bother me.

I know the higher you go, you can keep stock mirrors and look under your arms, but I want to keep my hands behind the fairing as well.

So, long story short-
1.Are 8" bars worth it? With the angle, pullback, ect?
2. Does anybody have any pictures from the front of what the mirrors look like with 10"bars? I have gleaned a lot of info from pics posted from the side and cockpit, but not many out there of the front.
3. Do I just need to get over it? Lol.

Thanks guys.

Can't really help much with your bar situation since I have 12" bars, but have you thought about the adjustable rider backrest? I had the same back pain, put one on my bike and it's worth every penny.

8" are very close to stock.. 10" puts them at the top edge of the fairing and directly in the center of the mirrors... 12' is just above the faring and you can use the bottom 1/3 of your mirrors when you tilt your head....

You have a dilemma... but seems to me you would be happiest with 10" and mirrors on the bars....no other way around it

IMG_0173.jpg I am 5'8" I went with 10" bars, I also have an adjustable rider backrest that helps keep me from slouching and takes the stress off my back and shoulders. I don't mind the mirrors that much. I wouldn't want anything higher, I would be reaching too much

I am 5'6" and use 12.5 bars. I left the stock mirrors on and use them still. It took a few miles to get used to. I have lower back issues as well as upper back/neck issues and these help out a lot. I know they stick up above the fairing but it was worth it to me.

I know you said about not liking the mirrors above the fairing, but this seems like a pretty nifty option for you...

I went with 10" bars and feel much better though I was so down that I had to ditch OEM mirrors, I love the way OEM mirrors are setup, perfect spot. Oh well, now I have rabbit ears....sorry, don't have a good pic of my setup but I will take some this weekend but for now...here is my setup...

I purchased plugs for OEM mounting holes but got the wrong ones as I did not read the Ad carefully, I may just go down to Ace's and get some rubber plugs and be done with.....LOL!

I have 10" bars, I refuse to use bar mounted mirrors. I just lift my hand up and use the mirror when needed. my primary method has always been looking over my shoulder first.

Has anyone considered an extension for the OEM mirror system, seems like an "Z" bracket to off-set the current position by an inch or so would work, an off-set low, high, left or right of current position is all you would need?

I have yaffe 10" bagger bars with HD mirrors. I don't have any issue with seeing behind me at all.

I just installed the 12" Yaffes on mine. Yeah, so far the fairing mounted mirrors are useless. I can sort of use them, but i don't feel them safe enough to really see if I need to.
I'm ordering up some bar mounted mirrors today.
What are you all using to cover the holes when removing the fairing mounted mirrors?

There are few out there but your best bet is go down to Ace hardware store and get rubber plugs and you are good to go....I was there for some rubber nuts for my sportbike and found that they have all kinds of plugs so I am heading out to Ace as soon as I have the measurement of the holes.

There was a post here somewhere where the guy covered the holes with willie g emblems.. Looked very cool

I just popped for the LA Chopper Plugs instead. They may be priced high for what they are, but I know they will work and not fall off.

Can anybody out there post up some pictures of either the 8" yaffee bars or the 10" la chopper bars? From the front as well if possible.

I can't seem to find any places online that actually sell the yaffee 8".

Thanks for all the responses guys.
