I'm looking at getting some 10" bars for my street glide. I like the design of the Yaffe bars and the LA Chopper primeapes. Does anyone have experience with the LA choppers and how do they compare to the MBB's in quality, size, and finish. I am looking at getting black powder coated bars not chrome. Any pictures anyone has of the two installed would be great also.

I have the 10'' LA choppers in black, I did prefer the appearance of the Yaffe bars, but I couldn't fork out the extra bucks for styling. The stock bars were inducing some neck pain, the 10" bars made that go away. I will admit, I wish I would have went with the 12" bars, but I am completely happy with the La Choppers.

Glad you said it Danoday.....

IF you are thinking 10"... you need to 12"... if you think 12".... you need to go 14".... this is the nature of the beast. As far as quality goes... As far as LA Choppers....i have 'heard' of issues with internals of the bars not being the best with a few sharp edges, but not many. I have installed many Yaffe Monkey bars on 14/15's... I lost count now...LOL! I would definitely consider 12" bars though. You will only need wiring extensions from NAMZ ( Plug and play ) for hand controls.... the TBW is plenty long enuf and stock hyd lines for brake and clutch reservoirs are good for 12" bars.

LA Choppers bars are about $150 cheaper than Paul Yaffe's bars.....I think they are made from same manufacturer to tell you the truth. They just placed their logo on it and ask for ridiculous prices.....I also went with LA Choppers bars 10" but twin peaks instead as I did not know LA Choppers make Primeapes....but I am really happy with the way they feel and ride over OEM bars.....

Good luck choosing one :)

I have ridden a SG with 10" apes on it and they put my arms where I was comfortable. The quality of the LA choppers is what I was most interested in. Looking at pictures I couldn't tell a difference between the Yaffe's and LA's. They are also about a $100 cheaper than the Yaffe's. Decisions decisions.

If you go on Google and do a search of LA Choppers Primeapes reviews....I am sure you won't find many bad reviews.....LA Choppers is not a small outfit so you'll not see lack on quality of their product.....

I found a link on comparison of MBB vs LA Choppers bars....check it out

Did you have to extend any of your wiring or did the stock all fit?
Had to extend. From what I understand if you go with twin peaks you won't need to extend. Prime apes are a little wider.

Wiring is easy to extend with NAMZ plug and play.... about $35

I agree with Spazz, I did not use the PnP extensions, this added about 30 minutes or so in figuring what tie wraps to cut around the tray area to make additional lengthening, its not worth the aggravation, do yourself a favor get the extensions. you will get enough aggravation running the TBW harness...atleast I did.

So I will need this plug and play wiring harness? Plug-n-Play, Up to 20" Tall Bars, Installs in Seconds! (2008-20013 models except for CVO/SE models).
I just want to make sure I order the right one.
Thanks for all the help and info guys..

Over the weekend I installed 12in twin peaks. The stock wire and cables work. The connectors for the controls are in front of the fairing . They are held in place by some clips.you have to remove the connectors for the clips, cut a few zip ties and run the wires up to the bottom of the bars where the wires come out or the bars.
Getting the T B W is a pain in the butt to get past the 90 degree bend but not as bad as the prime aps or the monkey bars prob are.
