V&H Power Duals or Dresser Duals

One thing I would say worth noting is that my power duals will scrape before the floorboards when leaning into right curves. I was pretty upset after taking off some chrome on my new pipes. Wish I had seen the thread regarding that subject on here sooner.

X2 Scraped mine with less than 300 miles on the bike. 3500+ now and I have a few sets of gouges down the right side. I guess it was just my way of breaking them in. I am a little more timid on the right turns now than I used to be after bouncing in to one and having the bike stand up on me in a turn.

Well I'm glad I started this thread, I really appreciate all the input. I'm thinking since I'll get a pretty decent discount on the heads that I may go with the power duals. I hear its not more than 3-4 low end torque that you gain with the power duals, but I also heard that you lose a little with the CFRs as well.

With discount it's coming out to about $503, anyone know of a better deal? Not sure of the legalities as far as who I'll get them through or what kind of discount I'm getting, but does this sound like a decent deal for the heads, new.?

Also I got the SE Heavy Breather too, I had it on my Wide Glide and was pretty pleased with it. Never heard of the heat issue from it. Is there much difference from the Elite to the regular HB?

Since you're the OP, I'll go again with the topic change....
The differences are cosmetic; I don't think there are any performance differences- even though one is "elite." The backing plates are different, and the size/shape of the filter is different.

I had the se stage one air cleaner kit and changed out to the Arlen ness inverted and the heat difference is noticeable for sure on the right side. Think the oem housing forced more air to the left and out the rear better.

Check with Jeff over at Costal moto.. He is great to work with

So I got my CFRs on last night, hadn't remapped it yet, but I had to take it for a quick 2 mile spin out and around the neighborhood.. Well when I pulled back in and parked it, the right (brake side) pipe was smoking pretty bad from the inside. Couldn't tell if it was oil or just the burn in... Anyhow, I put a flash light to it and all I could see was the bluing on the inside of that one pipe. The other was pretty much still the silver cover of the mesh that lined the inside.

It stopped after about 3-5 min, but still concerned me. I've remapped it (V&H FP3) and selected the Monster Rounds option for the slip-on's. Hadn't rode it just yet since it was pretty late, but I'll mess with it more today.

Anyone else have the smoke issue? Still maintained the stock intake and headers when I installed these since I haven't ordered the headers just yet and the SE intake is still on its way.

Yup. I have the CFRs and stock headers and air cleaner but without the FP3 yet. I had a lot of smoke and a real bad exhaust smell after my first quick ride. It lessened quite a bit after the second, and a bit longer ride. Now it is gone altogether.

So in the end, in a week from now, I will be running the SE heavy breather, Power Duals and the CFRs with FP3. Any advice on which map to run?

Calling V&H but all the Indiana people are in Florida, so just waiting on Cali to open.

CFR's are good and open.... close to High flow.... I would start with a map that indicates PowerDual head pipe and V/H High Outputs.... that is where I would start with the FP3

Yegg,
I seen a reply you sent the other day regarding V&H Dresser Duals. I may have a set for sale shortly if
your interested. although, my glide is a 2014 don't know if they will fit a 2015. Offer is there.

From what I understand, 2-1-2 (V&H calls them power duals) provide better low end torque and are also a little quieter. True duals (V&H calls them dresser duals) are a little louder than the power duals and they say they have a little less performance in low end torque. I went with the S&S power tune dual header for around $430 from j&p cycle. Also check the Amazon price. The S&S looks like a true dual but is a great 2-1-2 system and I even think it looks better than the stock heat shields. I use the V&H 4" slash rounds slip-ons and I love my FP3. I would prefer it just a tad louder but being a little quieter can help you hear the audio better too. Bike runs amazing! If I didn't go with V&H muffs, I probably would have gone with Rienhearts...

So I finally got the install completed pretty easy, and I love the new sound and performance. I haven't done the auto tune yet because it's about to go in for the 10K svc. But I did notice a sputter at one point when taking off from a stop. Also occasionally at an idle the RPMs would dip really quick almost as if it was about to shut off. Not often but it did do it. Is it the auto tune I need to knock out to kill these issues?
