I've found a company in SoCal that sells color-matched stretched saddlebags. The reviews I've read are impressive so I'm thinking of replacing mine with stretched. My question is for those that have them...how do they interact with the pavement in turns? Are they low enough to risk damaging in tight cornering?

If anyone is interested in those and other items like tour packs.....

I've been looking at Advan Black, Hog Workz and FMOTOS. All outta California I am curious also.

I have 6 down 8 back insane asylum but i am still in the mock up stage so i cannot tell you about what its like to ride with them, although theyre supposed to be very rideable

Just chat with AdvanBlack, they are offering 5% off now.....I am thinking about getting no exhaust cutout bags and $80 more for both bags. They will be coming directly from Hong Kong painted. Not a bad price for ABS bags, will have to think about it....spent too much the past week.....LOL!

Thanks for the info Aviator5456!

Well, I pulled the trigger and ordered a pair...they are less than half the price for OEM's....I'll give a detailed report after I get them.

I'm gonna give you props for squeezing the trigger on these bags. I think quite a few of us have often wanted to buy cheaper bags to avoid the extra cost of painting etc. but way too hesitant to try them.
I am looking forward to seeing your review on them. By the way, I think unless your putting on bags the sweep way down and to the back, your not going to have any issues with a 4.5 inch extension. Your foot boards would drag first.

one of my friends got the chinese knock off bags and sez they vibrate much more than the stock ones did. That would lead me to believe they are thinner (and cheaper) than HD bags or quality glass ones. If your bike is lowered u can sure as hell drag them. I made up aluminum skid plates for my RK, i've already switched them around cuz i dragged the edges (still saving the bags).

As promised, the bags arrived just before Christmas. The packaging was sturdy and not beat up, seeing as they has shipped them from Hong Kong. After opening the box, the bags were wrapped in foam sheeting...and plenty of it. They were also inside a heavy duty clear plastic bag that was partially sealed. After I removed them from all the wrapping and inspecting them, I was impressed. The paint matched perfect and the quality appears very good. Since I ordered only the lowers it didn't come with any hardware so I transferred all hardware from my OEM bags to these, including the lids. After installing them on the bike, they fit perfect. A couple downsides...the bags don't seem to be as sturdy as the OEM but its barely noticeable. When I have the lid open, they seem to flex a bit more but so far it hasn't bothered me. The folks at Advan Black really went out to their way to make sure I was happy with them. One thing I noticed after I removed them from the packaging was the paint had lots of marring. I'm not sure if its because the paint wasn't completely cured but a little buffing and it came right out.

As for scraping the bottoms? Well, it happens....the first ride too. After I pulled onto the street, and turning right onto the next street, I musta rode over the area where the two streets meet which is a low point for water drainage and turning at the same time and I heard that familiar sound....sure enough, theres a small scuff on the very bottom corner but its only noticeable from the bottom. Overall, I'm very happy with them....

Thanks for the report of these bags.....it looks very good and paint match.

If possible will you post pictures from the side as well?

Thanks for the review and the pics. So on a scale of 1-10, 1 being crap, what would you rate them at?

I assume that the after market has something similar but my CVO bag's have a skid plate. I ride hard and am a bit worried. Looks good I hope they hold up well.

Did you also get the fender extension or is that the stock fender?

No, thats the stock fender. One thing I did forget to mention...and this really pissed me off....ok, the only thing about them that pissed me off. So the groove on the bottom where the saddle bag mount bar fits in has two 3 inch rubber mounts. If you look at the inside of your OEM bags, you'll notice there are two rubber tips protruding from the bottom of the bag that secure those mounts. On these bags, there are two holes, just like the OEM bags but the rubber mount they included only had ONE tip to attach it to the bag....I mean, what would it have taken to make that with TWO rubber tips....AND that rubber tip was smaller than the hole so it wouldn't stay in place.....sorry for the rant....I ended up using clear silicone to help hold it in place. I've included a pic of the inside of the bag with those two holes circled and the rubber mount with the single tip...

And pics of the bike after they are installed.....

I am about to pull the trigger as well but waiting on them to have the pinstripe for the blackened cayenne special. They said about 30 days. What is the color of your bike Aviator??
Thanks for sharing with us!!

Blackened Cayenne.....I was a little worried about not having the pinstripe but I think it looks ok without.
