Solder TBW wires?

I am about to start installation of 13" apes on my '12 street glide. I'm hoping the TBW wires will be long enough but I'm planning on soldering extensions if they aren't. What's your thoughts on soldering the TBW wires? Anyone done it?

I 'think' you should be fine with TBW length... on 14/15's they are plenty long enuf for like 18" bars ( if you wanted to ) There is excess laid in on top of the triples for days. Hopefully your '12 is the same way as I am not sure if soldering is a good thing. I have heard it being done, but can't be good for resistance etc....

I had problems with my TBW after I installed my apes. Got some TBW trouble codes and check engine light after the install. I didn't want to have any more intermittent problems with this "very important" function" on our bikes which could become a serious safety issue whle on the road. So I removed the connector in the handlebar and soldered the wires together. For piece of mind, I also removed the connector in the fairing and spliced them. Never had an issue since.
The TBW is one feature I do not like about our bikes.

Yeah, I got it torn down and the TBW wires are plenty long enough.

I apologize if I'm posting in the wrong place here but I have a TBW question. I just disassembled the fairing and removed the bars yesterday. What is the two wire connector that comes out of the TBW harness. It wasn't plugged into anything. I had no problems disassembling the six pin Molex connector. Just would like to know what this is. I found that the stock was plenty long enough too. I did, however, purchase the longer Screaming Eagle TBW with no connectors inside the bars. I see now that I could have just soldered the connections. First time I've done any mods to my HD. Plenty of experience on metrics and autos though. This is still new to me though. Thanks in advance.

Found out it was for heated grips. Thanks all.
