Deeper. Would be 2.5"
But you may loose a little backpressure. Especially if you have stock head pipes
The 2.25" would keep the back pressure but may fall short on deepness as well
Big Louie's are great mufflers. Have you gone to YouTube and watched videos??

I have the 2.5 on my 14 since it was new. They have sounded great since installed. They are loud and deep. Also gave a more torqy-er throttle response. For last year I have ran them with decatted stock headers and it's now even louder, but In a good way.

Thanks to all! Yesterday I read someone very unhappy with Rush that they had installed the 2.5" on a worked up engine and the slip ons blued. It sounded like his problem was his because he didn't do a dyno retune or did a half-butt retune from the internet.
My concern is the back pressure. I will be running stock everything but don't want to have any problems. I literally just want to "slip" them on! The slip on with the 2.5" baffle is $40 cheaper than the one with the 2.25" baffle. Why?

I know this thread is old, but I have the Rush Big Louie's on my 16 SGS. I ran them for over a year on the stock head pipe and they sounded great, with a nice deep rumble to them. A few months ago, I installed V&H dresser duals head pipes and re-installed by slip ons to those head pipes and now it is really loud and throaty.
I have the 4" Big Louies as well. I still have the cat pipes so my buffers are 3" and 2-1/2". Nice deep tone. I have since purchased a decatted pipe, not installed yet, and will have to change my buffers. The guys at Rush are very helpful and will advise as to which size buffer would be appropriate for your needs. I see that this is an older post, so you probably have this taken care of. Which size did you decide on?
Well here's another 2 cent opinion. At my 1000 mile service I had the stage 1 download put on my 2015 SGS and a Screaming Eagle AC upgrade as you might expect not much different than stock. I shopped around for slip-on mufflers and finally settled on 4.5 inch from RCexhaust( not sure what the baffle size is) deeper, better sound(I like what I hear). I still had stock headers and the catalytic converter so heat issues still there. Did more research and settled on Ceramic TrueDuel Headers with a ThunderMax tuner, final result sound is still the way I like and now quite a bit of heat is gone. I'm happy with how the bike runs.
