Removed the baffles from my 2014 SG

After reading about guys pulling the baffles and packing from the stock mufflers, I decided to have at it. Well, I haven't gone for a ride yet, but I can't say I'm sold on the sound. Rather disappointed actually. It is definitely louder, but has a hollow tone to it. It just doesn't sound right, or like a Harley should.
Anyone else have this problem? Bike is all stock otherwise.

Eric,
Poor sound quality is Usually the case with gutted bagger mufflers.
You have three choices:
1) ride the bike as is
2) contact www.fullsac.com and buy the recore kit
3) buy different mufflers.

When I did mine I found that it didn't sound right. So I bought s tuner and gutted the cat. It took that puff puff sound to s thump thump with the cat gone. It is a pain in the butt to remove though

Does Fullsac have a kit for street glide mufflers? I thought it was for CVO mufflers.
I replaced the cat head pipe and added stock CVO mufflers to get enough good noise to make me happy.

Yes Fullsac has a version of the CVO recore but for stock muffs. $200 will get you new cores and muffler end caps. The kicker is you have to slice off the end of the OEM muffler. There is a picture and info on their website I listed above.
Like you Mike, I'm also running a stock set if CVO take offs. Plenty of noise for me. Too many years of straight pipes in the day.

BTW, I'm also an old Mike

I'm a fan of H-D Street Cannons with the stock head pipe. The best I have heard IMHO. I get lots of compliments on the sound. Read the reviews on the H-D store.

I gutted my mufflers and I think they sound pretty good. At first I thought it was a hollow sound, but after riding a few hundred miles I haven't noticed it or got used to it. I kind of like the way they sound now actually. I always heard the screaming eagle pipes wasn't loud or sounded good. Around here I haven't seen anyone with a set for me to hear in person. That's why I did what I did to begin with. Lol

Update: I bought some Rush slip ons, stock header with cat delete, and a Tuner. She runs pretty hard now. Just pulling the cat alone increased the sound by quite a bit.

Thanks for the update! Sounds like you have the bike dialed in to your satisfaction.

Eric G. I love my full Rush Exhaust system. The ceramic coating really stops the heat on the right side!
