I have a 2015 streetglide special.

I have plasma rods waiting to be installed. I am going to keep my stock blinker bar on the rear fender but I only want the blinker bar to illuminate for the BRAKE ONLY. Is this possible???

I want to have the plasma rods illuminate for running, brake and turns. I know exactly how to install these, I just want to see if anyone knows how I can make the stock blinker bar only illuminate for the brake..

thanks.

I don't know. The two blue wires on the signal bar harness are for the running/tail lights. I guess you could pull those wires and test?
Anyone else know?

I wish I could help but . . . I hooked my Plasma rods up for turn and brake only and didn't mess with the stock lights other than adding the Custom Dynamic LED's.

If your using the stock tail lights the rear bulb is 1157. On the bottom of the 1157 bulb are two contacts. One is brake one is running and signal. Bulb is grounded through its casing. File off the little contact nub on bottom of bulb that is for the running/signal light and tape or paint over the file job just to be sure. Insert bulb. Check to see if you filed the correct nub

That's actually not a bad idea, but to save yourself from buying new bulbs in case you file off the wrong nub, just put some electrical tape over one nub at a time until you block the one that makes the bulbs brighter upon braking. Then file away!

Why not leave the electrical tape on the correct nub and call it good? No filing required and bulb replacement only requires another piece of electrical tape.

Or paint the nub using some fingernail polish? Maybe the wife's/girlfriends favorite color, or not!

14 FLHX makes a mounting bracket for plasma rods. Just throwing it out there

If the nub is not filed down and just taped the pressure of the socket spring can twist the tape on installation. May work or may not and electrical tape can plug up the socket. Paint or nail polish might work but I think a filed or sanded nub with polyurethane coating would be the best. With all the possibilities and suggestions experimentation is
in order

I was planning on installing them to the filler inbetween the fender and bags. I have done it that way on my buddies bike to.. What are the brackets your talking about?

Solid idea boys.. and girls? if any..... Didn't think of messing with that nub. I'll let you know how it goes, and post some pics.

I don't think there is enough contact area on the side of the filler panel for the plasma rod to adhere. The brackets provide a nice flat surface for the adhesive. However, you'll need to install a hidden antenna or mod your antenna mount for the mounting bracket to work.
Search ebay for plasma rod mounting bracket.

I like the look of the plasma robs when they are solid color running lights. I also like the look of their turn signal how it goes completely off and on during turn signal mode. I ALSO like the look of the stock brake bar with the license plate behind it, so i decided to leave them, and try to only have them operate during BRAKE move. Extremely confusing, but I'll post a video when I finally get the motivation to do it

I have the CD LED tail lights AND Plasma Rods. They are great but . . . . you cannot see them from the sides that is why I kept the factory tail light bar functional.

Great point Mojo, hadn't thought about that.
