I have a paint question and could use some help. I am trying to touch up the paint on my saddlebags (Stone chip Scorching Yellow Paint) It was chipped down to the black plastic. When I applied the Yellow paint to it it has a green Hue. Should I have applied a White Primer to the area before appling the yellow paint, or will the top coat bring the hue back to yellow. Do I need to mix the base and clear together before applying the paint. Any help would be appreciated.

If the chip is that deep where you seen the black plastic then you need to prime the area first. After primer then apply the yellow and then clear. The clear doesn't change the color only changes the shine. Yellow and reds are two of the toughest paints to work with, both takes several coats. Also make sure your paint is well mixed.

Good luck with that...I had the same issue....except different. I had a shopping cart chip.....I ended up buying a new saddlebag. I tried the touch ups but I still had a "hole" where the chip was. I tried filling that hole with just about everything I could find but then trying to match the paint on 3 part paint is almost impossible. And its almost impossible to feather in clear-coat....you have to clear-coat the entire bag. My painter told me to just go get a new bag because he said by the time he does it all, it would have cost almost $350 and a new bag is a little over $400.
