I was leaning towards the SE Heavy Breather, but I think the Roland Sands Clarity Air cleaner looks bad ass. Is there a big difference in performance between the two?

For the most part all of the high flow filters perform about the same. If your only doing a stage one you won't notice a difference so go with the one you like. I had the heavy breather and now have a Costal Moto one and there is no difference.

RS Clarity is pretty nice looking but lots of $$$. If I had endless money and didn't hate oil type filters that would be my choice. But like bryan said, you won't notice a difference. I still have the stock air filter and wouldn't notice a difference either.

Agree there is not much advantage to aftermarket intake.
The difference between stock and aftermarket air intakes might not be noticeable at low speeds but is evident at WOT above 4500 rpm. The aftermarket filters allow more volume and the backing plates are much smoother promoting better airflow. On a stage 1 engine you will pick up a couple HP and the engine should run a bit cooler. That said the stock air induction system will serve you well also and many riders are more than satisfied with the performance.

You may get a bit more HP at WOT, but the extra dirt they let in is why I stay away from the oil based filters. IMHO, I'm not gonna notice a HP or 2 and if I wanted HP, I would have never traded my turbo'ed vrod for a SG :).

They all will flow more air then you need. It's all about what works for you.
