New 12" Yaffes installed

Very nice. I am trying to decide between the 12 or 14 inch bars. I'm only 5'7" so I'm thinking the 14's will be too tall.

Thanks spazz, the picture helps a lot knowing we are the same height. The 12" look like a good height, what don't you like about them?

It's not that I don't like them... I LOVE them.... I thought 12's off the bat and they work.... I am just thinkin 14's would have been better and allow use of faring mirrors, where the 12's didn't at my height... only the bottom 1/3 I could see.

Ok, that makes sense. Appreciate it man. Can't wait to get mine, hopefully it will be sometime soon.

How far back do you all have your bars from the fairing? Mine are sitting roughly 3" give or take a few mm. I have short T-Rex arms.

My 15's are about 1/2" off the fairing. But I have long gorilla arms too, haha!! You'll have to find what's right...and comfortable(!) for you.

That's really good information about the 12" bars impeding the use of the fairing mirrors. Does anyone know??? Can you use the existing cables with 14" bars or do you need to purchase new cables? The cost and labor difference is upwards of $600, so pretty important to know.

I assisted JonP with installing 14" Monkeys... with proper routing of cables... stock hyd lines work.. he has a thread on the install with pics

I remember reading something on new riser bushings being needed but can't find it again. Is this necessary when going with taller bars?

Not necessary, but if your bars move too much with stock bushings you can replace them with poly.

Stock mirrors will work, I just choose to take them off and add Scythe II mirrors. I like the look. Cables on 14" I do not know about.

Stock mirrors with 12" Monkeys did NOT work for me... only was able to see bottom 1/3 of the mirrors.... PLACEMENT of the bars ( more forward into the faring ) will allow you to use more, if not all of your stock mirrors.. I am about 3" away from the faring and could'nt use them at all... I went with Scythe II's as well.

Bike looks great!! I an 6'2" and chose the 14s, I think the are perfect and leave room for adjusting forward or backward. The stock cables will work for 14s for sure and the stock mirrors are also fully usable. I chose to replace my bushings with poly ones and upgraded to a grade 8 bolt, very little bar movement with that setup

I'm getting ready to do my bars this weekend, got them yesterday. Is it necessary to remove the trip reset button to take off the controls? Other than a video on YouTube on how to install PYMB's, I haven't heard about having to do it from anyone here or others. Thx.

Yes... trip button needs to come off to split the covers... it's not hard. Just lift up on left side of button with flat blade screw driver slightly and push it left.
