Ok guys I need help fixing a rookie mistake a made today heading to work. I moved my foot back and the heal of my boot hit the exhaust and left a burn mark on my pipes. Does anyone know of a trick to get it off or and I stuck with the reminder to never do that again?

A good citrus based degreaser will take almost anything burnt off of exhaust pipes. I used it on removing a cheap (Frog Toggs) rainsuit that hit the pipes. Just make sure not to get it on paint or you will be sorry!!!

I picked up a plastic grocery bag with my pipe one day out on the road, and (don't scrunch up your faces) I used a razor blade with the slightest of pressure...short strokes longways along the mufflers, and it came off perfect without damaging the chrome...

I use either Easy Off or 0000 steel wool dipped in Lacquer Thinner for chrome ONLY!.

I had boot marks and used goo-b-gone and it worked fine for me.

I used the Easyoff idea and it worked great. This is just one reason I like this site so much, you can always get good advice for a problem you are having. Thanks again everyone.

Hi although these are all good ideas you need try a copper penny ! the copper is far milder than the chrome and will work with little effort and not damage the chrome.
