Ok, I have looked through the forum ad nauseum and done countless searches and read lots of posts. I am asking this in hopes of getting some good answers without having to continue searching all of the great information already on here. Here it goes:

Currently have an almost stock 2014 SGS. All I have added is a set of V&H Twin Slash Round slip ons. I am looking for more of the Harley sound. The low, deep rumble while idling at a stop light. What can I do to help improve this, going in order of best bang for the $ to I am going to have to sleep on the couch for purchasing this? Any and all input is greatly appreciated.

Most cost effective way would be to decat the header pipes. You should get the computer at least flashed after doing this. I went with the Vance and Hines power dual headers. Really opened the bike up. I paired that with their 4" blackout rounds ( which is probably real close to your twin slash round. And I added the SE SUPER TUNER PRO. Gave a really good sound

Pricey but totally worth it. You will see a little performance bump with that setup also. No harley should have the factory emissions crap on it!

Plus 1 on the power duals with those slipon's with a good tuner went FP3 for ease. If the price is everything you can de-cat the head pipe or buy one done for about 135 on line. You can also change out the baffles on the slash cuts if it's not loud enough or maybe too loud. Worst part about the exhaust is there are just too many choices and it's just what you like. Thought about changing mine several times but until I find something I can't live without sticking with this set up.

Good luck and I hope the couch is really comfy lol

If all I do is add the dresser duals would I need a remap? Still would have the stock air filter for now. Thanks.

I think you can get away without a tuner until you do the intake. Have seen several do that and the first 50 or so miles it will run crappy until the ECM adjusts to it.

Good luck and keep us posted

Ok, just dropped the change and ordered the dresser duals and FP3 from our sponsor Coastal Moto and CMJeff as he did right by me on the twin slash round slip ons and gave me a better price than I could even find on FeeBay. Next question, which air cleaner can I fit under the stock cover. I like the stock cover but want to get more air flow into it. Also welcome Chambersmikee, I personally love my twin slash rounds. Look at Coastal Moto and pm Jeff, I guarantee you he will give you the best deal around.

I have a 2015 FLHXS that I put V&H Dresser Duals and Twin Slash Ovals on. I used a H-D Stage 1 AC filter because I liked the look of the factory AC cover too. The Stage 1 AC kit gives you a Screaming Eagle logo to replace the stock "103" logo on your AC but you don't have to use it if you don't want to. Based on all the info I read on after-market AC kits, I couldn't find enough evidence to prove that an after-market kit would give you a justifiable increase in air flow over the H-D Stage 1 AC. I'm sure some will disagree and that's ok. I just bought what I felt was best for me.

As far as sound goes, I'm really happy with the rumble I get out of my exhaust's setup. It sounds like a Harley now. Unfortunately we have noise laws in my city (92db at idle, no more than 96db at 2000rpm) and mine is no longer compliant. Luckily I do most of my riding on the hiway. Mine registers at around 97-98db at idle using an app on my phone. When your riding and you twist that throttle you get a nice rumble/growl and others are forced to pay attention. I absolutely love the sound of my exhaust in stereo thanks to my Dresser Duals. I will never buy a Harley again without getting headers for it.

As far as tuning goes I got a V&H Fuel Pack 3 (FP3). It takes all the guess work out of tuning your bike by allowing you to select the headers, exhaust pipes and AC on your bike. It's very easy to use and I can tell a difference from the Stage 1 download that the dealer had done previously. It also has an auto-tune feature if you want to go that route but I found the map that they had for my exhaust has worked just fine. Good luck!

I agree Rider. Love the new sound! Except for mine being rounds and yours being ovals, we are running the same setup. Love the fact that with the FP3 I can continue to leave it plugged in and so far have not thrown an error code! Makes me think I did ok on my wrenching :)

Sound is really a personal preference ( in regard to performance as well ).

A close friend of mine has the PowerDuals and Monster Ovals.... way too quiet for me... another has Monster Rounds still too quiet for my liking ( and theirs )

I am more on the LOUD and borderline obnoxious side... which has proven to be a GREAT safeguard against cages that don't pay attention all that well to bikes. I almost got t-boned 2 days ago and the only reason he stopped about a foot from taking me out was my decel rpms were about 3500 rpms as I was swirving hard right onto the shoulder and got on it to get out of the way.

Loud pipes save lives.... nuf said....
