Lower fairings and tour pack

Just received my lower fairings with speaker pods from "USA motor parts factory" and should have my King size tour pack trunk next week from "Flashemotor" both bought on Ebay. The lowers were $180 painted black and are good quality. Trunk was $ 268 . There is a mounting unit for the trunk (an added $ 100 ) but i am going to see if i can come up with a mount of my own that would use the HD stealth luggage rack i already have. My bike is the gold / white pearl color and need to decide whether to color match paint them or not. Trunk will only be on for long trips so it could stay gloss black without too much ridicule from the buds. As far as speakers and connection to the boom radio, i will need to do some homework as to what works the best. Dont know how much the sound might improve with the added speakers but at 80 mph+ the tunes are a bit hard to hear. If anyone has experience with these topics, info is welcome, thanks !

UPDATE: Got the trunk today, very good quality except for the vinal passenger backrest. I might take it to the leather shop for a re-do. I can post pics if anyone is interested.

Got 3 quotes for paint $ 550 to $ 1000 for the three pieces. 1 Pint of HD paint is $200 cost. Thing is, the guy who works for the HD collision center said he wont use the HD paint because it will not match. Huh....... We will see cuz he is painting my parts... more later......

The paint thing is the scariest part because it usually costs more then the parts. Something to be said for factory color matching at least for my color anyway.

I had my Fairing Factory Lowers painted,it was a good color match but in the end I did not save much over OEM prepainted units.

I damaged one of my bags and have been trying to paint it myself with the HD paints and I can't get it to match...its close but....I took it to my local HD's body guy and he said its cheaper and a better match to just buy a new bag. He wanted $350 to repaint it and a new bag cost $400.....

I have the same colour as you do. When I checked the local paint shops for colour matching they told me pearl paints were hard to match. So I ordered my fender from thefactorymatch.com and the match was perfect, they only charged me 25 dollars to paint the fender. So they can be matched. Then I ordered the fairing vent and tour pak from HD and the paint match was also perfect. HD even pin stripped the tour pak.

There's some good information on this thread! In my case with Mysterious Red, my paint guy said it was a three step process and the color paint was $200 for 8 oz. He did a perfect match though. Next time I'll just do OEM-HD plus I always get a 15% discount on parts from my dealer.

I have a 14 SGS.. When I ordered my tour pack the dealer told me they couldn't stripe the pak!!

It depends on the part number you use as to whether it comes pinstriped or not. Usually the only ones that are pinstriped also come with the lights and antenna mounts. Manchester Harley online has a list of every color, by year, and it states whether it is two toned or pinstriped.

When I ordered mine, I didn't expect the pin stripes. I was pleasantly surprised when it came with the stripes. The salesman at the parts counter told me HD has a women free hand paints the pin stripes on them.

I think the sales guy's pinstripe yarn was just that. If you look at some HD factory floor videos you'll see these are robotic applied.
