Alright I have an 07 and I installed the cruise mate and that all went well. Now I went to put back together the housing and grips and here's where the nightmare started. I can't get the housings to fit back together with out it binding on the grip. Aftermarket chrome housing and Kurakyn I so grips. It worked Before I took it apart. (I know I should've left it alone) Everything works when it's just the lower housing but as soon as I set top one on it binds I have about 5 hours into it and way too much beer. I have the wiring up in the dimple where it should be. It just doesn't make any sense. I'm ready to take it to the dealer.

Yea had this problem on my 08 Fatboy. It's the wiring it has to be in a certain spot and it will close farther but not completely till you tighten the screws.

It's a real pain

Yeah I can get it to close with screws but the throttle barely moves then. It's so frustrating as this should be the simplest thing to do.

I installed that on my '07 Heritage Classic and if memory serves, you have to make sure the cruise mate cartridge is screwed in until you feel resistance before you put C/M handle/spring/bolt and the switch housing on. Make sure the bushing didn't get screwed in too tight. Once it's all put back together, then you can adjust the cruise mate. If its too tight (throttle won't turn):

1. Push CRUISE-MATE lever toward rear of bike.
2. Pull down on CRUISE-MATE lever and rotate lever one tooth toward front of bike (clockwise direction looking at CRUISE-MATE from below).

Hope that helps.

Check your brake reservoir mount, there is a little tab on it that has to sit in the housing just right.
