So, the SGS comes with some of the slipstream collection from the factory which I like for foot controls and foot rest but I hate for the grips. Would it look alright to put different grips on and have all the foot controls be slipstream? Not sure what to do on this one. I Feel like I would be wasting money by replacing the existing slipstream stuff.

What to do?

David,
You do what feels right for you without worrying about how it looks and what people think. You need to find the most comfortable way for you to ride, and if that means you have different style grips, then so be it. I have all the slipstream stuff on my '09, and put the grips on to match soon after I got it. They're nice grips, not so much with sweaty paws, and I eventually wore grooves in the rubber from my fingers. I just put 15" black apes on and used all black Avon grips, and for the life of me, I do not know why I didn't change them sooner...they are SO nice!! There's many more complimentary and comfortable grips out there...like I said, do what's right for YOUR ride.

I agree!
As long as you like the appearance and comfort of the finished product is all that matters! I have all matching slipstream pedals and such but I use HD Get-A-Gip grips. Several of my friends as well as some forum members use them also. There are many good grip options for you to discover.

Avons seem to be a popular choice of late , I like them better than the Kury ISO's I had on my Softail.

I always wear fingerless gloves. I bought replacement grips off the internet, and even with the gloves the diameter of the grip is too small. My dealer has a display of grips, mounted in a way you can grab them like they are on the handlebars. Try this out to ensure you are happy with the diameter of the grip. My only gripe about most grips, is the manufacture thinks they have to put their name on them.

Love my Arlen Ness "deep cut" grips...

I like a thicker diameter grip...

I use the Kuryakyn Kinetic gloves and like the thickness of them. Very comfortable.

Add me to the guys who love their deep cuts. I had Avon and they lasted one ride before I took them off. I hated the smaller diameter, and they carried a lot of vibration through them.

The thing about Harley, everything is customizable. You can make your bike your own. No two are the same. I see pieces on other bikes that I like...but that's why we all love our Harley's, because they are uniquely ours...
