Hey everyone-
I noticed something I thought was odd on the 2014’s. My EITMS (Engine Idle Temp Management Sys) activates every time I’m at a red light even though the temps were only in the upper 70’s. When I look at the info screen it always say “Enabled” and then “Activated” when it arms. Up until recently the info screen ALWAYS said “Disabled”. Check yours and see if it does the same. It appears that Harley has set the temp threshold much lower than before as I don’t recall my 2011 Road King hardly ever coming on at a red light.
For those of you that don’t know what EITMS is: "During hot idle, or when the motorcycle is off-throttle and running at hot temperatures, EITMS shuts off fuel to the engine’s rear cylinder, leaving it to idle on the front cylinder only. Without combustion, the rear cylinder and exhaust header will begin to cool, bringing relief to the rider (and passenger) soon after. Once the rear cylinder cools to a predetermined temperature, or as soon as the rider accelerates, both cylinders resume operation.

Note:
EITMS can be turned on or off by doing the following
1. Ignition switch to ON position
2. Push the throttle to roll off position and hold
3. After approx 3 seconds the cruise indicator light will either flash green (on) or red (off)
4. Repeat the above as needed to enable or disable

The statement above is the key. The system is programmed to cool the rider and passenger. The engine is not overheating.

Best feature, once I actually read the manual. :) My old road king didn't have that feature. Once I flipped this on it kind of negates some of the argument on doing a full s1 to cool the bike. As most of my issue is in rush hour stop and go. Gets toasty in FL.
