I'm installing V&H Dresser Duals and they are refusing to cooperate with my CFRs. I got the left side on, but the right side is being an a-hole. I'd appreciate some input from anybody who's had the same problem.
Also, the CFRs slid on fine to the OEM headers.

Take the clamp off the slip-on and widen the crimp points a bit...

Stick the old head pipe in the muffler, wiggle it around to open the muffler opening up some.
Install on the new head pipe.

or this... but I would still remove the clamp to do so....

Dan-o, hope you don't mind, I have a question about CFRs. All things be the same, would their be a big difference in sound by dropping my 4" Rinehart's and slipping on CFRs?

Buckshot, I'm pretty unbiased and I dont think you can go wrong either way. Both have really good sound and low rumble.

Thanks guys for the inputs. Bending the crimps out helped a little bit, but still unsuccessful. It stops about a half inch before the crimp ends. I'm starting to think the header is defected.

This is the same set up I'm going with if my CFRs ever show up.

Dan-O,
Might be some work but if you can get the other muffler off and try the fit with that one then you would know for sure if it's the pipe or the muff.

Blues

Blue, I only had to wait about 3-4 days. I actually bought a scratch and dent (not used) pair that was available at the time from CFR. Except for one extremely minor chip on the cone they were brand new. I received them in about 3-4 days and got a good price.

So, problem solved. Had to buy a tail pipe expander and open up the CFRs a hair. Now it fits like it should. Thanks everyone for the help!

Your going to LOVE those CFR Muffs. Nice and mellow at idle, not to crazy if your being nice, Easy to hear the radio at 70 mph, but if you want to be noticed, crack the throttle and she will bark and let every one know your there.

FLHX, I thought the CFRs alone sounded really good, but now with the Dresser Duals it sounds out of control! Great sound. I put in an FP3 last night and I'm wondering how much of a difference it's going to make.

FP3 will make a considerable difference if you didnt have a tuner already.... you will want to call V/H and get their recommendation on a base map to flash that closest matches your setup, run for a bit and see how performance is... then if you choose to run autotune... do it and then apply it to get fine tuning done....
