Hello all. I did a Stage 1 on my bike about 2 months ago. I bought the Fullsac DX pipe, SS stage one breather, and started with V&H monster ovals. Installed PV2, along with the "target tune" via the 18mm 02 bungs in the DX pipe.
The Ovals were just not load enough, but were already on the bike so I ran them a week or two, ran real good. Since I go to a guy's garage every week, where we all work on bikes and have access to some "boneyard" parts, I swapped out the Ovals for some gutted slash cuts. Bike got load, still ran good, but was tinny sounding.
Two weeks later my bro got me a deal on some new CFR mufflers that the dealer messed up one of the mounting threads on. No biggie, they welded a stud on it, and not it just takes a nut instead. Problem is, I've lost a great deal of power (flat spot) in the 2700-3000 RPM range. Once you see it pass 3000 RPS it takes off in a big way.
Now, I haven't contacted Fuel Moto yet about a map. Figured autotune would fix it, as it seemed to accept the gutted slash cuts, and tune them in in no time. In searching around, there seems to be a general dissatisfaction with the CFR performance. It's conflicting, because sounds like they can be a real SOB to tune, and maybe the autotune isn't getting enough from the 02 sensors, due to the unrestricted nature of the CFR's?
I'm going to call Fuel Moto in the morning and have them send me a map. Figured it was worth tossing out there and seeing what the opinions are on here. Am I just going to have to live with less performance for the CFR sound (really on the fence if I can do that), or is it something that can be tuned in?
2014 SG standard with no other engine mods.
TIA
