I have a New 2015 Street Glide. I purchased the CFR Knock offs from KC International and received them about two weeks ago, installing them on the same day. They sound good but the pipe (slip on ) on the right side is starting to turn bronze where it connects. There's no exhaust leak at the connection point and I've only road about 100 miles. Did I make a mistake by not buying the real thing?

That's the normal color after running. Usually there is a heat shield there so the discoloration will not show. The body of the mufflers is insulated by the fiberglass packing and normally will not discolor.

Here's a chart showing typical metal discoloration from heat on the right hand side.

I ran KC International CFR knock off's for couple of hundred miles and sold them, pipes did not change any colour at all, they were like brand new when I sold them......the reason I sold them was because they were way too loud.

I have run these CFR KOs for about 2000 KM and also no discolouration.
But +1 on blkdragon they are loud and on a long run I get a headache.
They will be coming off this weekend and up for sale.

They could of cause your engine to run lean and a increase in exhaust temp.

Thanks Gentelmen, I understand the color chart and they are loud. I'll see can I handle the sound when I ride down to Daytona BikeWeek. Meanwhile I'll get the Harley shop to check to see if it's running lean.

Did you change the head pipe or gut the cat out of the stock head pipe? If not the cat is where the high temps are coming from and is the reason the pipes are blueing.

The CFR KO mufflers will not work with a cat. It's race between chrome damage or packing turning to dust.
