Can't decide on exhaust

Not sure how you narrowed down between those 2 (or what model Vance & Hines), but they sound pretty different from each other. Have you heard both in person? Since you are mostly just going for sound by putting on slip ons only, might as well get the one that sounds like what you want!
And as mentioned, no turner is needed, though recommended since factory HD is lean already and most slip ons will make it a little leaner still.

I went with RC Components RCXHaust 4.5's . I have not replaced head pipes yet but will in the near future. Also I feel like a tuner is needed as I do feel the bike runs a bit leaner as mentioned above.. Researching this forum now.. The best answers are here

I wouldn't get either of those, I like CVO mufflers.
No matter what slip on you use the bike would probably run better and cooler with a tuner. I don't think mot people stop the engine mods with just slip-ons anyway.

And of course talking tuners opens a new can of worms! Tuners that require dyno time to get in their sweet spot, tuners that you connect via bluetooth for tuning adjustment, tuners that adjust via wideband O2 sensors, enough different styles to make you pull your hair!
I have just upgraded with the following:
V&H 450 destroyer slip ons
D&D true 2 into 2 headers
Thunder Max Tuner and Intake
The bike runs faster, cooler, and stronger. This entire set up cost me about 2400.00. Was it worth it? Yes for me but may be too much for others. Just remember you get what you pay for. Also with the TM auto tuner you will not have to Dyno your bike for any more adds unless you just like to spend money. Sure you can go for the 300-400 dollar tuners...but then when you realize that it will not do it for you...well you just wasted that money. So if you can afford it..go for the Thundermax Auto Tuner.

Hello htrdlc, just fitted a set of CFR from kcint.

I would describe the way my bikes runs the same but I only spent $812. Very happy with the results. And everyone says my bike sounds great.
The BIG question.... what do YOU want? If you are going for sound only... go pick a slip-on of your choice. DONE! IF you are wanting performance... that is a whole different ballgame.

Our bikes do run a bit lean from the factory and even a stock setup can benefit from a good basic tuner that won't drain your wallet. It can run cooler, more efficient and even 'wake it up'.
I would seriously consider adding a tuner in the future that won't break the bank... like the FP3 Tuner from V/H... I have one on my 14SGS and I have a more expensive setup on my 15RGS with a PowerVision and wideband O2 Target Tune module. Both the FP3 and PV are great tuners, PV being a bit more expensive and more elaborate... but in the end. they do the same thing.. MAKE YOUR BIKE RUN BETTER.

How my Bike changed in chronological order and what I noticed in the ride:
1. replaced the OEM slip-ons with Rush, Big Louie's. Result: definite exhaust note improvement (sounds like a V-twin HD now), but I have decel popping.
2. Installed VHFuel Pack3. Result: a lot better throttle response, quick to RPM, what feels like improved torque in all gears and almost gone is the exhaust popping. big improvement.
3. replaced OEM airbox and filter with Arlen Ness Inverted Big Sucker with KN filter. Result: improved exhaust note again, you can hear the bike inhale and exhale when running through the gears. again what feels like more improved torque and speed. An ongoing Autotune with the FP3, real simple, and it works.
Total Invest: approximate $950,

There is a difference in tuners and what they can adjust for, so you need to think about your future plans. Some tuners only work up to a point with adjustablility: they can't handle the requirements for large cams, larger throttle bodies, larger injectors, bigger engines. Tuners with wideband O2 sensors and some sort of autotune don't need the expense of dyno time each time you make a change to the motor. Think about it, race cars nowdays use the wideband O2 systems to help tune them, so there is something there.

I went with Freedom 4" Slip ons ... I like love the way they look and sound. I didn't want to be like everyone else with Rineharts or V and H .. dare to be different!!!

Does this pipe have a baffle in it. I love this pipe but don't want anything ear shattering. Also looks like it doesn't have heat shields. Is that a problem when you get too close to it?

It's baffled, but you can buy a quiet baffle if you so desire...I love the sound, so no quiet baffle for me!! It does have heat shields on the pipes...and the section between the chrome bands is the muffler. You can get the pipe in chrome or black...you won't be disappointed!!!
