I've noted that after my 10K (never losing oil) I took two trips, Colorado and Tenn/NC. During those 1800 miles, I've had to add 3 quarts. Needed tires so took it in, told them about the oil issue, they found it running lean and plugs had crap all over it. I had worried I had a piston/ring problem. Sure enough they pulled the head and found the piston was warped. Replacing it under ESP, then will put it on the dyno.
Hope to be as good as new !

Still waiting on parts, front head and piston that I know of. Said it was wallowed out it the middle of the cylinder.
Any idea what would cause that?
He said several things could but... That's all he said

Update.. Getting her back tomorrow, can't wait. Costing me around $400 with tires and swapping to Syn3.
The BILL is around $3500 ! This is the reason I get the ESP....
New Piston, front jug, flywheel, tune, etc..

I bought a 7 year ESP figuring the Boom! infotainment system would fail before that. My power train warranty is gone do to my engine building hobby.

Wonder what "wallowed out" is?
Wonder why it was running lean?
Wonder if there is a better oil choice than Syn3?
Good luck,
Mike

Will talk to the tech today when I pick it up.. but sounds like the piston or ring had a notch or something on it, that caused the cylinder to grove, so more oil was getting in.
They had put the HD pro tuner in 2 yrs ago. I ask, "how did it get out of tune so bad", he hinted that tuning is almost an "art form", and the tech probably didn't get it right. I feel this tech did a good job. Apparently guys ask for him by name.
I switched oil for more protection than standard oil, even though not thrilled about the extra noise it will probably make. As least that was the experience with the last bike.

Thank you sir.
Again,
Good luck,
Mike

Roughly $1000 in labor, and $2300+ in parts. Tech was out today so couldn't talk to him.
Not sure why they changed the oil pump assy and the oil pan assy... but what the hay... ESP paid for it.
