Hello all.

I am looking at changing my stock mufflers to either one of these two options based on your suggestions. I am not necessarily looking for more performance, but am looking to increase the decibel volume:D:D ..... and don't want to spend unnecessary $$$. Bassani makes both of these slip-ons and obviously the smaller is less $$$. Will I get the decibel increase with the 3.5's, and will I see any improved performance, or do I need to go up to the 4.5's?

Thanks!

4.5 look much better...and if you look at it from behind...the bigger looks like a much better fit to the back of the bike

Larger Diameter mufflers will give you more volume and that deep Harley rumble and IMO look much better. Smaller diameter muffs will have a tighter higher pitch and IMO look anemic on Harley's large mass especially from the rear as scharrin suggested.

I have the Bassani DNT in the 4.5 inch and they are worth the coin if you want a wicked exhaust note. I'm not sure how they sound on a stock headpipe as I run an after market. I can tell you though that any 4.5 inch slip on will be better than stock.

Or you can go 4" .... instead of following everyone else I went with 4" Freedom slip-ons and LOVE them. Nice sound but not too loud. I don't have a picture from behind but here's how they look from the side.

When you do find the sound byte, make sure you listen to it through earbuds or headphones .. regular computer speakers won't do ANY exhaust justice.

Ha Ha ... I just noticed you're from Jersey too. I didn't know where Winslow was until now, just down Route 70 a bit. If you're not in a hurry, I could meet you down where 70 meets 72 some day.

A little bit further than down 70. Down 206 to the end! But not in a hurry. Thanks:cool:

I went with 4.5 Screaming Eagles and love the sound they put out when you get on it.

So all of you that are going with non-EPA mufflers with the M8's, are you keeping your stock stuff for when you go in for service? Since Harley will void warranty if you use anything else.

And I have 4.5" screaming eagles and they sound great. Definitely a huge improvement over stock. Deep and not crazy loud but doesn't sound like a weed wacker anymore

I kept mine however, If I go to my selling dealer for service- they simply overlook the pipes. IF I had a warranty issue, its a 15 minute changeover.

3.5" or 4.5" slip-ons?

After reading posts on this subject I bought a set of S & S MK45 4.5 inch slip ons
Fitted them last night without the db killer insert and the sound is amazing
Real deep loud rumble
