So my next step on the bike is going to be exhaust. I purchased my bike used and have no idea what slip on is currently on there.
I am going to do a full system when this get swapped out next year. My question is what would be better performance wise.
I love the look of the dual exit under the bags. I'm learning towards the Rinehart True Dual.
I have heard a 2 into 1 can be great for power. There are a few out there that I really like. Mainly the exit before the saddle bag.
What are your opinions?

2-1 out performs any other systems out there... hands down. With a true dual setup, you have no exhaust scavenging whatsoever... at least with 2-1-2, you have the scavenging that helps in performance.

Since you are set on performance you will need to narrow it down to which shorty system you want that dumps before the bag. Personally, I run a Pro-pipe on my 14SGS and a Thunder Header 1074X on my 15RGS120... love them both!

Had to split post.. only 1 video per post

There is no argument against the 2-1's that the guys posted, they just work. But I'm like you, I need a pipe under each bag. If your budget allows the D&D will accomplish both. Rinehart is great but do your homework. They sell three systems. True dual extreme, classic and slimline. Only the slimline will except all aftermarket mufflers and it is the only one that has a scavveaging balance tube to achieve the Harley 300 FPM optimal flow rate. The other two will lock you into a 2" inlet "Rinehart only" muffler, which is not bad but you are married to Rinehart forever. Also, the classic will allow your trans to run cooler but bake your passengers left leg if that might be an issue. If pure performance is your goal the extremes will settle that but tuning will be mandatory or your low end performance will be gone. I'm interested in how you make out, post back. I play around with exhaust systems constantly on these bikes and the muffler swaps can be the difference maker.

D&D makes a ghost pipe if you choose to go with the fatcat, that way it appears you have duels.

If you want more power and torque and still twin mufflers, Vance and Hines has their Power Duals pipes that have a merged collector that then splits back to the dual pipes.

I don't think there is a definitive off the shelf, bolt-on "canned answer" for exhaust system applications. I have been a hobbyist of the aircooled flat four VW, natural and turbo motors for a few years. There is no shortage of info on the science behind exhaust systems and the tuning of exhaust systems, actually you can see the theory of the science and how it has changed in the past 10 years or so through the posting of articles in a time line.

RB racing has a informative and easy to understand translation of the science as it relates to HD, I am not endorsing their products and I don't have any them, but they put it in common man terms. https://www.rbracing-rsr.com/exhausttech.htm.

can a true dual exhaust system be built and tuned for a stock 103? yes, will it maintain the aesthetics of the stock appearance, no.

can a 2 into 1 header be tuned for a stock 103? yes, but it also can lose efficiency (power) gains by the choose of slip-on added.

I my opinion, think about what your desires are, what do you want the outcome to be? is there an appearance you are looking for? a sound note your are looking for? or your want maximum hp and tq numbers produced on the dyno?

Well I will chime in with the supertrapp 2-1 produces more torque then most of the 2-1 and has tune able disc's to find just the right combination for your bikes set up I have been happy with that pipe on my last three baggers. And there are a few guys here that can attest that it puts good power to the pavement
