Ok... I pulled the trigger and got 12" YMB... The question is the wiring for those that have done it with NAMZ extensions.

I have heard that 8" extensions is what I need... if this is the case... verify my NAMZ part numbers

8" wiring extension kit NHCX-J08
8" TBW extension kit NTBW-X08

Looking at these kits... enlighten me as to where the extension is... I know it's at the end of bars... but really 8" is all you need for these bars?

Thanks....

8's will work but its a bare minimum. I got em to work with a little rerouting. 10's would be perfect you will also need the 18" throttle.
Thanks...

So the next size is 12" extension... I will go with that... I dont mind a little extra.

And 18" tbw extension....

I thought I read on hear that you can get away with stock cables with the 12s just extend wires

Correct... you can... I am talking about wiring only.

Throttle by wire and hand controls only...not hydraulic brake and clutch lines.

Oh good deal I thought I was just makin stuff up lol. Thank you for clarifying I got worried bc if they ever come off back order my monkey bars should finally be on the bike lol

Spazz- 8" extensions will be fine, that's all you need unless you want to spend more money. The stock TBW is long enough and no issues with the stock length, I did read somewhere that people were buying another TBW possibly a CVO part. The only reason I could see doing that is if there is no connector inside the bars and it's one long piece. That is the part you will need to be very careful with, the green connector is easy to break. My biggest issue when wiring the new bars was getting the TBW and the hand control wiring in the same space, it's a pain in the ass. If you get stuck send me a PM and I'll send you my cell number. Now that I've done the bars I could do them again with much less trouble.

NHCX-J08 is the correct part number, you won't need the other one. it goes from the wiring that comes out of the bars to plugs right under the radio as you are looking at the front of the bike.

if I have any issues... I will be sure to hit you up... I can't thank you enough... you saved me a ton. I was getting nowhere with techs giving me the runaround etc...

No problem, that's what this place is all about. The only other thing I wish I would have done was to reroute the clutch cable in that mess under the fairing, mine works but it's at it's limit on the bars, I had to loosen the cable bolt very slightly to turn the cable, only loosen it just enough to turn it or you'll be taking a trip to the dealer. You will have to cut a bunch of zip ties holding the cable to get enough reach out of it.

Thanks for the insight.... I do agree that this forum rock above and beyond all others...

Thanks again Scott

You didn't say ?
You going with black or silver bars ?

Chrome... gotta love bling...

Got the bars already... Arlen Ness Deep Cut grips... waiting on wiring and then pick up my chrome levers..

You made a good choice. I have the 12" as well and love them... Most comfortable bars I have ever had

Spazz,

I am curious as to how you make out with this. I put these bars on my 2008 Ultra and had a helluva hard time getting the wires through the 1" diameter bar. Are your bars 1" in diameter? Back before I started this project, I spoke to some indies and 2 dealers who told me "they wouldn't even attempt internally wiring anything under 1 1/4" bars". I spoke to Paul Yaffe himself who was vehement, to the point of obnoxious, that the wires would easily go through his 1" bars. They did go through but IT WAS NOT EASY!!! I think there were 18 wires + the TBW on the right and at least 12 wires on the left. My thinking is the larger group will now be on the left, with that being the side with the volume controls and cruise?

Good luck. Keep us posted.

Some more of my parts came in today... gonna pick them up before heading to NORCAL for a few days. The 14's are 1.25" bars... so I should have it a little easier. I have heard of the nightmares of internal wiring on these bars, but I love them too much to settle for anything but.

I will be taking my time on the wiring since they are very small and fragile.

I will probably just post a new thread when I do the install, so stay tuned.....
