vance and hines discoloration

I have v&h destroyers on my 2017 street glide and the left pipe is showing signs of discoloration. See pics ...one is of my bike and the other sent to me by V&H. Per V&H, this is normal and to be expected. They claim this is to be expected since the "heat coming from the exhaust will tend to travel longer and stay ther longer to the left side because it travels underneath." Has anyone experienced this and/or can you validate this?

I have V&H monster rounds on my Ultra and they have always done that.

I have V&H Pro Pipe and it does that too. I just use chrome polish to remove it and it stays clean for a couple of months.
