Hey guys.

I bought this screaming eagle air cleaner from a friend to put on my 2015/16 SGS

I think it came off a road king and he was sure it would fit my bike.

Unfortunately when I went to fit it it wouldn't fit. It looks like the two bars that connect to the oil over flows on the heads are two long. Not sure of you can make it out from these pictures but there is a gap around where it connects to the engine.

I think the new SGS has a bracket attached to the head which holds the air intake which the older bikes don't have.

Apologies for not knowing the names of the components involved.

Am I missing something or am I right and these won't fit?

Hey Kilt Switch....
Hope this sheds some light on your predicament. Don't know if this is the correct sheet for your particular part...
But did some research to see if I could help. This INSTRUCTION SHEET is for Harley-Davidson Part Number 29253-08B (Says it fits 08-later touring)
SCREAMIN' EAGLE HEAVY BREATHER

Thanks GlideLife I had a quick look and that seems to be similar to the instructions I have.

Leave off the offending bracket.

Thanks Hulk can I remove that bracket safely? It's a brand new bike and I don't wanna have to go cutting anything off it to make things fit.

This is the offending bracket as illustrated below.

Remove gas tank which is very easy and then remove the bracket.I just did on my 15 and it will then fit.

Cheers guys just had a looks and your right it looks like that bracket doesn't actually do much.

What's the easiest way to remove the tank? I removed the seat and the tank bolt. I thought I may be able to lift it a bit to get to the bolts but it hits the key thing and doesn't lift enough.

How's the easiest way to remove it?

You have 2 more bolts up front 1 on either side of the tank

Sorry..forgot to say you might not see them because of a rubber cover hiding them

Thanks mvrigger,

I'll have a look tonight and see.

I just removed that bracket on my 15 SGS. No need to fully remove the tank of you are careful. I just removed the two screws under the front of the seat and propped the gas tank up on rags. It was enough room to get the Allen key in to remove the bracket.

Thanks guys my mate refunded me the cash I paid for this. Think I'm going to look for something a little smaller like big sucker or maybe even a big sucker filter and keep the stock cleaner

I actually just used my dremel and cut off the ends of this bracket. Later on when I pull my rocker box covers to have them powder coated I'll pull this bracket.
