Scratch

So I have a small scratch in the rear of one of my bags...about 1.7 inches. Without spending a small fortune to have the entire bag repainted, whats the best way to repair this? I have had experience with rattle can painting but I always have the problem of blending and overspray. I think the edge of the bag can be buffed out but the scratch is fairly deep but not completely thru the paint and I don't think there will be the problem of paint fade as the bikes not that old and is always garaged, except when I'm riding...

That's nasty. I bet a body shop would paint 1 bag for a hundred bucks if not less.

Damn, sorry man I feel for you. Like Bluebowtie suggested take it to a body shop, it will save you a lot of headaches in the long run.

So I got the touch-up paint from ColorRite and followed the directions. Its a two part paint, a base and the color and after finishing with the clear coat, I was waiting a few days for curing. In the meantime, I left for work early the other morning and hit a patch of ice and the the bike slides out from under me, landing on the same side and skidding on the ice about 15 ft. Luckily I was only doing about 5 mph and it only scratched the bottom edge of the bag and the engine guard. It did damage the lid, but that's a good thing as I was going for some new lids with speakers anyway. All-in-all, I have the city where I live paying for it as they created the situation with the ice by not cleaning a storm drain after multiple complaints and allowing water to collect. And thanks to everyone for their suggestions but I think I will take the lower to a painter I know and have him repaint it.
