Hey guys, I tried to research this. I have a 2013 Street Glide I bought 1 year ago with 6,000 miles. I have noticed the heat shield started pitting really bad in one spot. At 15,000 miles the chrome is totally gone where it meets the other shield at the bottom. Question is do I order a new one or find a different year take off. Or is this a freak and I will just order it new. I had a similar problem with the Screaming Eagle mufflers on my Super Glide. I went through three sets purchased at dealer and they all pitted in the same areas. This was over a month period. The dealer actually sold me Vance and Hines at cost. Dealer was in shock I think. The part I need is #65951-09. Any advise would be helpful. I found a lot of these on e-Bay cheap. $25.00 and up delivered.

Check with your local Harley Shop. Mine has some take offs that customers just leave there after the upgrade to new exhaust headers.

Odds are if you keep those shields cleaned religiously you still gonna replace them every few yrs depending on where you live and how much you ride ;0)
