I just returned from the local HD dealership after purchasing a set of Willie G. Skull Footpegs and the Short Angled Adjustable Highway Peg Mount Kit.

I open the mounting kit box and the plastic bag containing the instructions was already ripped open and the instructions themselves were in ragged condition. I removed one of the units from its box and I could see very noticeable small scratches on the chrome where someone obviously attempted to install the unit.

I immediately called the dealership parts department and explained what I found.

They apologized and went back into their inventory to see if they had another set in stock, which they did. They also explained the mounting kit I had purchased had been returned earlier that week.

One would think they would have examined the contents of the box when it was returned.

Sloppy .... Just Sloppy ...

Remember to ALWAYS check what's in the box .....

Yea it happens. I've seen plenty of items that are returns marked as new. They probably didn't even check for damage before throwing it on the shelf, otherwise a scratch and dent discount would have been well warranted. At least they owned up and didn't try to say you caused the damage, as that's happened to me.

They usually ask the person returning if theres anything wrong....if they say nothing's wrong, they don't even make sure....its pretty sloppy for sure.
