Just changed my stock air filter with the screamin eagle stage 1 air filter. And discovered grit on the clean side. Is this bad and what should I do? Just hit 6200km. ImageUploadedByTapatalk1428802551.837249.jpg

Should I take the filter into the stealership to cover my ass in case the motor blows?

Did you find the filter to be defective and if so does it look like a Mfg flub?

Considering all the sandy grit I'd assume it's a manufacturing flaw that's allowing all the grit through. What I'm wondering is if it causes damage will it be covered by warranty?

Should be covered by warranty since it's the factory air filter that came on the bike when purchased.

I got rid of the OEM filter cos my mechanic has had a couple of HD filters break up & get sucked into the motor,
K&N is working fine, I didn't want to take the chance.

Hi

After a couple thousand miles I changed to a high flow Fuel Moto unit. When I cracked open the stock air box I found dust trails on the backing plate between filter and throttle body where the stock filter was not sealing tightly against the backing plate. This is unacceptable and a poor design or inferior parts IMO.
Couple of other folks have also noticed this

Blues.
