Hard to put a relevant title to this but this is what I've done. In June I had my SGS 2015 dynoed, SE airfilter, jekill&hyde mufflers, super tuner and removed cat. Result was 87 hp and 152 newtonmeter tourqe. My friend got 92 hp and 155 tourqe on his 2016 road glide. Difference in set up was that he had v&h header and muffler, full system. So last week I put on S&S true duals instead of the de catted original headers and went to my dyno guy to measure the difference. S&S claims up to 8 hp gain compared to stock but since I had removed the car I was curious. First test, absolutely no change either in hp or tourqe! After two hours of tuning we got 88,1 and 154 with a good fuel curve. Test rode it and it was an improvement but not near what I was expecting. Verdic from this would be that
removing the cat is almost as effective and a lot cheaper than buying a "race header".
Anyway, since he had some time and the bike was on the bench we tested some other scenarios. First we removed the mufflers all together leaving only the S&S headers. Result, 91 hp and 148 tourqe!
Next we put back the mufflers and closed the valve. Jekill & Hydes thing is that you can control the sound by a button on the handle bars from closed, half open to fully open. Closed they sound pretty much like stock. Result was 75 hp and 123 tourqe.
Don't know how many of you that's done similar tests but theory aside, these are hard measured facts that I hope someone has use for when planning what to do to their ride.
