Help with exhaust setup

I am researching exhaust setup for my 14 sgs and am leaning toward the Vance & Hines power duals with monster square pipes. I'm looking for good sound but want to hear the radio.

1. Does anyone on here have these? Opinions on sound?

2. As for an air cleaner, what is the difference between the flat and the cone style? Is one preferred over the other? Are there concerns riding in the rain with a hi flow filter?

3. Tuners. I was guessing on staying with Vance and Hines and getting the FP3, but are there better options I should be considering? Also are the tuners end user setup ready? Or do they still require tuning by a shop? ( my only experience with a tuner was a Thundermax and from what I've read these seem different)

Sorry for all the questions. I'm completely new to these bikes and have been having trouble finding the answers I'm looking for.

Check out Fuel Moto's Jackpot head pipes. Life time warranty, has both size O2 bung holes already installed and dyno tuned maps.

There service is #1 and Jamie very helpful. Check out his post on the difference...

Most Hi flow filters come with a rain sock and tuners PV-2 FP3 or Thundermax are all good

Jackpots are a wicked pipe and very unique sound for sure and I would have went that route... but no chrome on their 2-1.... SS brushed, polished and black only.

I run 2-1 V/H Pro Pipe with the V/H FP3.... FP3 is a great tuner gives me the user-ability I wanted...

IF you go with FP3... they have maps for their specific systems and then some... they add new maps all the time.

There are other tuners as mentioned above, but I don't have specific knowledge on them... but the PV is run by many that I personally know and they love them.

Some tuners require a dyno and tech to do the tune... others allow you to tune with specific downloaded maps and auto-tune capabilities.... it really depends on what you are willing to do/pay for what you want.

A close friend has Monster Ovals with Power Duals on his Road Glide... Deep and throaty, but not loud enough for me.

Thanks, I originally planned to go all black exhaust but honestly the chrome is growing on me. I want to stay with duals instead of a 2-1 even though I hear performance is higher with the 2-1.

Spazz, were you able to use a regular download for your FP3 or did you need to dyno it? As for tuner I just want set it up and leave it alone once done.

The pipes not being loud enough Is what I'm worried about. It sucks trying to figure out a purchase like this without hearing the setup first in person.

I just installed that setup but mine are the 4" Monster Rounds/power dual/FP3 with the SE Heavy Breather Elite
(part# 29400173), only have around 500 miles on them at this point.

I like the deep throaty sound while in town riding but then mellows out some once your highway speed levels out.
Personally I like to be able to listen to music sometimes and with mine am able to do that but when I turn the throttle along side a cage thats gotten to close they know I'm there.
IMO if your looking for "obnoxiously" loud this set up probably isnt for you.

Flatlander. Thank you for the info. That is what I'm looking for. I had pretty loud on my last bike and not looking for that here. I want to still be able to hear the radio on the hi way. I'm just trying to decide monster square or oval.

Is that air breather far enough forward that it is out of your way?

I had the same concern but I dont notice it at all.
I do have Soos kits 1" floorboard extensions on my floorboards though, so maybe that helps some.

Very nice setup but I use to buy at Kutter till I started using Jon from Horny Toad. He has beat Kutter on every part so far a tad over $1000 purchased...

Just a FYI
