Hey all, I need some guidance with installing some audio stuff on my 2016 sgs. My wife bought me a rockford fosgate tm400x4 amplifier, the rockford amp install kit and a set of infinity kappa 62.11's as a gift. My questions are.
1. Will that amplifier and those speakers work together ok?
2. I know i also need a line leveler and plan on getting one, but what else is needed for the install? New grills? If so which ones do you reccomend?
3. And lastly i have tried to read up on all of this as much as i could. Is this a reliable setup or will the fitment of these speakers cause me issues in the future? I have read about them rubbing and tearing etc on the fairing.
Any help you guys can shed on this is greatly appreciated. Ive done audio installs in cars but never on a motorcycle.

Thanks
Jay

The amp and speakers should work together just fine. When I did my amp and speakers in my 2015 SGS, I ditched the stock speaker grills because they did not look like they would have provided enough clearance. I replaced them with the metal mesh ones from JM Audio Corp and there is now enough clearance to prevent the speakers from making contact and tearing. HD also sells the same grill with the bar and shield emblem in the center, but they cost something like $80.

Thanks for the info hopefully the install goes smooth. Worried of the fit of those kappas in the pods. I hear mount inside the pod others say outside etc.

I have Focals and while some mount them on the insides of the pods, I did not have to do this with mine. Having said that, if I were sticking with the stock grills, I would see the need to mount the speakers inside of the pods.

If it helps with comparison, the outer ring on the Focals is about 3/16" thick. The screw holes also lined up with the factory holes.

When I did the Kappas in my pods, I had to dremel in a couple places to get the pods back flush. I mounted inside and I'm assuming that's why some are mounting on the outside. When I say I had to dremel it was because when you split the pod and install the Kappa inside when you put the two halves together the speaker frame is slightly larger in the 10 and 2 position.so I grinded a very small amount of the pod away and that made it possible to put the speakers on the inside. Once you get started and do your fit test, you'll see right away what I'm trying to tell you. It was very elementary to make it happen.

I know exactly what you are saying. I watched a video on it. Im debating on getting the biketronics brackets. Just not sold on spending the money on them versus taking the time to fit them in the pods.
