Harley headlight harness question

I bought the harness for my Evo headlight from Harley. Am I really supposed to cut off my headlight plugs and the plug on the new adapter? They can't make a simple plug and play?

I know it is simple plug and play for the daymaker, not sure about the evo.

Whoa...what are u talking about? it is plug and play
 
@Aviator5456....you have the right part, the stock electical connection or "pigtail" as I call it, connects behind the headlight and then connects with 2 connections (hi & lo beam) to your stock headlight, the one u bought is same connection behind headlight but only 1 connection going to the headlight.
Am I missing something? Just trying to help, I have the 2015 but it should be the same

The "pigtail" is the adapter harness between the connector on the bike and the headlamp. On the included picture look at #20. That is the connector the pigtail connects to.

But yea, we're talking about the same thing...just different terminology...I call the adapter you buy from Harley the "pigtail"....

Yes sir...looks right to me, follow the harness from the headlight right to that plug...whatcha thinkin?...what's going on?
Did u have it all torn apart or something and trying to figure out where it plugs back into?
 
follow the harness from the back of the light all the way into the fairing to where it plugs in there. remove that harness and plug in the new one. I had this same issue when I first installed my evo ii. Your not adding to the existing harness you're replacing it.

Guys you both answered my question. Its to late for me now. I did all of the work Sunday an hour after I asked the question when there was no real response. The Instructions clearly show cutting the 2 head light plugs and the large flat plug from the new harness ( I will post Later) in adding to the existing rather than replacing. The harness even came with the wire butt splices. I was to quick and even forgot that I now have the Service Manual thanks to Mojo.

But I do now know, that if I want to go back, I can replace the existing pig tail. I should of looked farther back in the line just to make sure. :mad:

I can't say for sure, but it should be easy to tell, if you have 2 bulbs then some form of harness will be needed because the daymaker and the evo only have 1 connection.

My daughter goes to Coastal so any time I visit I go to Murrell's Inlet. More fun than Myrtle I think!
 
That's the same instruction sheet that I have. Those illustrations showing what to cut are for Road King models. Fairing models are plug and play.

What Grizzly said...I almost made the same mistake until I remembered I have an FLHXS and not an FLHR....but as long as its working, no worries...you can always suck it up and go buy a new harness and sell that one to a buddy who has a Road King...
 
Well I'm glad i never took the directions out of the box or maybe I would've made the same mistake...lol

Thanks, just moved down here in Oct.

Much nicer than MB for sure.
