So this is my first HD, have had a lot of metric bikes and sold the last one(yamaha raider) as it wouldnt stop leaking oil. Now my concern/question: my 2015 SGS that has 300 miles on it has oil seapage on the cylinder bases. I have read a lot of different articles and some say its assembly lube. Has anyone else had this? And if so how many miles before it went away? Sorry i dont have a pic, i can get one tomorrow. This is a light amount of seapage., i noticed some on the head bolts the other day but that seams to be going away, so the assembly lube scenario could be true i guess. Just gun shy after my last bike that was 2 years of oil leaking hell

I would do your best to clean it off and see what happens or better yet take it back to the dealer and have them clean it and note what's going on. If there is an issue then their on board with what's happening.

Just my 2 cents

My 13 had seeps really bad, took about 1000 miles to stop, I watched it like a hawk and would use the carwash almost daily to clean it up. I was skeptical about it being assembly lube but it did finally quit. My new 15 didn't have any seeps at all. It will probably quit soon but you could talk to the dealer as mentioned in case it is a real leak.

My '13 leaked nothing. I'm not sure why people that have warranties left do not take their bike back to the dealer for everything so its on record. Why worry, take it back and let them deal with it.

I agree.

I took my 13 to two differnt dealers and they both said "just ride it you have two years of warranty". it turned out to be nothing which is good because I don't want them touching my bikes if given a choice. If you look on HD forums there are multiple threads about excessive top end lube. Old topic, just trying to help.

Just an update. Bike stopped leaking around 1000 miles. Now its bone dry
That's good news. Mine was seeping at the top, turned out to be assembly lube. Glad it worked out for ya

mine leaked like that on top of the cylinder as well. That too went away.

My '15 SGS had a leak behind the rear cylinder the day I took it home. Didn't get worse until about the 850 mi. mark. Cleaned everything up, headed to the dealer (70 mile ride) for the 1k service, and there was a small puddle behind the rear cylinder. Dealer couldn't tell initially if it was the base gasket or pushrod base gasket. They changed both, and found a small nick in the cylinder base gasket. No problems since.
