Just brought home a 2015 FLHXS and needed some pipes. My last three bikes I had Vance and Hines. Two set of slip ons and one full system. I have always loved the sound of the V&H's but they are generally on the loud side. This is my first touring Harley and I wanted a pipe that was a bit quieter. First time I have had a radio or GPS so I didn't want to drown out either. I love the sound of a Harley, but some pipes can be too much. Instead of getting another set of V&H I thought I would give the Cobra 3" slip on RPT a try. My buddy got the Cobra 4" Race versions and the sound was good, so I found these and the price was good.
First of all after installing them and listening to them at idle there is no difference than stock in decibels, just more bass. It's not until you get on the throttle does the pipe wake up. Perfect for what I need. Don't want to bother the neighbors, I want to here my radio, but if I get on the throttle you hear and feel the bike.
The best way to explain the pipe is throaty, with good bass, not obnoxious..........I'm liking this pipe.
If you want to be heard 4 blocks away, this is not your pipe.
If you need a 4 or 4 1/2 diameter pipe, this is not it. It measures 3 1/4 at tip.
If you want something that has good looks, good sound get this pipe.
