Another oil question......

So I got the oils from the dealer and they sold me 6qts. So with the video that was posted in another thread it say 3qts in the engine 1 in the trans and 1 in the primary. I look at the owners manual and it says 4qts in the engine 1 qt in the trans and 1.4 qts in the primary. Well if my conversations are right the 1.4qts equals 44.8 oz in the primary. Who the hell is right?

I usually put 3 in the motor and 1 in the trans, and 1.4 in the primary. Then I pull off of the wheel chock and idle to operating temp on the kick stand and top off according to the dip stick. I usually end up with a few ounces left in the 6th quart.

With a filter change, many of my friends do 3.5 motor & 1 ea Chaincase and Tranny. Works for me for many years now!

What Mojo said if you put the 4 into the engine you get a lot of blow by in the air cleaner 3.5 and she stays pretty clean or at least mine dose.

Thank you all for your input. This was my first time changing the oil in a Harley.
I ended up putting 3.5 qts in the engine, 1qt in the transmission and 44.8 about in the primary.rode it for a few miles today to get it hot and checked it and everything seems to be at the right levels. Now it's time to clean it.
