I am a shorter rider, about 5'5". I'm able to ride and sit on the bike with no problems at all. however, simply for comfort and confidence reasons, I want to lower the bike just enough to go more flat-footed. Has anyone done this yet, by replacing shocks ONLY, and what brand/size/system did you use? I want to be able to do this without a major loss in current performance. I'm not looking to make a hot rod, just want to be able to back it up when necessary without going up on my toes. (I already replaced the seat, and that helped, but not as much as I wanted)
Looking into lowering with some low shocks, but that leave plenty of tire/fender clearance, same/like same turning ability. Thanks for the help.

Your bike already has lowered (12") shocks. Out side of a lowering kit, which will mess with bike handling and will be a passengers nightmare on crappy roads, why not try a lower seat?
