Ok so like most of us I spend a lot of time thinking about what mods I wand to do to my bike but I'm not rich LOL so I do have a budget I already have the SE street cannon slip-on's on my bike now but there is always room for improvement to the stock exhaust sys. That being said I have been looking at aftermarket head pipe's and or de-cating my stock head pipe but while doing this research I have noticed that the stock cross-over is smashed flat as a pan-cake and looks to be very restrictive ! Have any of you guys swaped out this pipe and have you noticed and improvement in sound or preformence I see Jackpot make's a full size cross-over pipe for $120 looks like it would be a cheep up=grade to the stock exhaust system ?

I believe fuelmoto makes an X pipe with a new crossover thats not smashed... fits stock heat shields as well...

I know looking at the stock Harley header pipe its not a bad design at all 2 into 1 with a big collector section were the stock cat is . I started my bike up and let it idle then walked around to the back of the bike and put my hands up to mufflers you can tell the difference in exhaust coming out of the 2 mufflers easy the right side is flowing a lot more exhaust then the left you can feel the paulse's from the cyls firing on the right side the left side has some exhaust coming out but not mush pressure behind it seems to me that cross-over pipe has to be a big restriction ?

Yes they do it's $119 for just the cross-over pipe and they make one to fit the stock HD header pipe that's kinda the direction I was thinking of going I could also gutt the stock cat down the road Free flowing exhaust on a budget

HD does that as a "protective clearance measure". With a completely stock setup there "ain't" much flow thru the left pipe anyway. With the Rush True Dual system I have, they supply a nice round crossover pipe in the kit.

I have the cross over installed much better flow and easy to install. Clearence has not been a problem

Crossover pipe back pressure might be good for a stage one only system and maybe go to a full sized crossover if you need more flow with a different cam. I'm going to check with Fuel Moto when I do a stage one on my bike.

I believe the flow difference between mufflers is intentional to get the lumpy idle sound H-D wants. If you have low restriction mufflers and the stock head pipe, I don't believe you could count on significant power improvement by changing the crossover. A complete new cat-less head pipe designed with a full crossover is good for a few HP at high RPM but will cost you some mid-range torque.
